Tsinghua University was established in 1911 and is one of the leading universities of China. The Department of Engineering Physics was established in 1956 and aims at integration of science and technology. The department provides two programs for undergraduates: Engineering Physics and Nuclear Engineering and Technology. With the support from the state and the university, the department dedicates itself to constructing Tsinghua University to be a world-class university. The research of the department includes a laboratory and studies on ultra-compact accelerators based on laser-driven plasma wakefield acceleration.
