DEsY - Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron
DESY is a leading German research centre for Accelerators, Photon science and High Engergy physics. DESY has a long history and experience in design and operation of large research infrastructures such as the HERA, PETRA, DORIS and FLASH accelerators. FLASH is the most advanced SASE FEL infrastructure and serves also as unique test bed for superconducting RF technology. DESY is presently strongly involved in the construction of the European XFEL. The development, construcition and operation of particle accelerators involve special challenges for both humans and machines. Over 50 years DESY has accumulated vast experience in accelerator development, construction and operation, and is one of the world's leading laboratories in this field.
